Tech Fest 2023
Black Girls in Tech is UK dedicated to increasing representation in the tech industry. Our mission is to provide opportunities for black women and girls from all backgrounds to break in to tech, through networking events, workshops, bootcamps, job opportunities and partnerships.
One of the most significant ways we demonstrate our dedication to this is through our annual "Tech Fest," which took place on March 18th this year. The event welcomed over 300 attendees from various backgrounds to network with representatives from 20+ companies, including Chase, ASOS, Deloitte, Selfridges, and more at our exhibition. The Tech Fest provides attendees with the opportunity to upskill, network and hopefully, walk away with a job opportunity or two!
The day was packed with various workshops alongside our all day exhibition. Tech Suite kicked off the workshops with a CV workshop, followed by Niyo Bootcamps with their “Get into Tech” workshop, then Kubrick came in after for a “What even is Data” session, and finally, Rejoice Ojiaku closed the day with an SEO Workshop. The workshops offered a wide range of topics and themes, making it an excellent opportunity for attendees to learn and ask questions from industry experts.
In addition to networking and upskilling opportunities, Tech Fest also provided attendees with free professional headshots that they could use on their social media platforms, Linkedin, or portfolio.
Beyond the networking and upskilling opportunities, Tech Fest was also a way to promote diversity and inclusion in the tech industry. The event provides companies with the opportunity to engage with some of the most underrepresented individuals in the industry and do more than just talk about DE&I.
To conclude, our annual Tech Fest event is an excellent opportunity for individuals wanting to get into the tech industry and companies wanting to improve their DE&I strategy by partnering with Black Girls in Tech.
